Glass Drinkware Sourcing: A Wholesale Buyer Checklist
Share
Define the item before comparing quotes
For a glass drinkware project, record the vessel shape, capacity, dimensions, rim, base, lid or accessories, decoration and intended use. Identify the target market and sales channel. Confirm that the specific item is available from the supplier before treating it as part of a product quotation.
Questions for the RFQ
- What glass type and construction are specified for the item?
- What dimensions, capacity, weight range and tolerances should the approved sample meet?
- Does the design include a lid, sleeve, handle, printed decoration or other components?
- What use, cleaning and temperature conditions should the product be evaluated against?
- What packaging configuration will be used for the actual shipping route?
Evaluate the sample and the delivery configuration
Compare each sample against the same drawing and checklist. Record visible defects, fit, decoration, dimensions and any buyer-defined checks. For shipping, review the final packed sample, internal protection, carton specification, labels and agreed damage-acceptance process. Select any drop, compression or transit test with the supplier or qualified test provider; name the method and pass criteria in advance.
Keep the test result tied to the sample and packaging version that was evaluated. A result for one design or pack-out does not automatically cover a changed item.
Record the decision
Save the approved sample reference, specification, packaging arrangement, open issues and responsible owner. The sample comparison guide provides a framework for recording differences. Use the B2B drinkware RFQ checklist to collect the project information.
